Sharing the beauty of nature and much deliciousness along the Portugese Way (Senda Litoral) and through the middle of the Podiensis / GR65 / Chemin de St Jâcques

Podiensis planning and deliciousness aplenty in France

Ok, I have been asked for between-walk pics, so here they are. Yes there is a lot of yummy food.. Yes, there are LOTS of fries in France. Yes, there are many photos of sculptures from yesterday in Lille. Incredible to see so many stunning works in this unforgettable building for €7. There’s a high public good belief in heritage and culture here that I very much appreciate.

The trails are following me…
So this is where maidenhair ferns thrive! Dungeons.

Planning for next week’s walk from Conques to Cahors is now almost complete. Guy and I have swapped my travel for his hiking pack as it is cooler on the back. I have booked many, many trains and accommodation types. I have been trying to walk up stairs to get some of my condition back, and carb loading 🤣.

The architecture of empathy. ❤️

We’ve still walked a fair bit since Santiago, but at ‘golf pace’ …not quite the same as 4 to 6 ish hours on many hills in up to 30° heat. Even up here in Gent today it is 28°, but I am hoping the forest parts of the trail (GR65) will provide some relief. It is not nearly as populated as the Portuguêse coastal, so will need to carry more water, and maybe snacks. My feet feel better prepared and I’m taking both the Keens and the Allbirds so I can swap as need be. Verder en naar boven!
